AdSense For Blogger

Posted by Motti 28 November, 2007

Google has a free blogging system named blogger.  If you want to blog but don’t have you own domain and don’t want to buy a hosting package, than you can open a free account at blogger.com and start to blog free.

Even though that blogger is free Google let put AdSense ads in your own blog and earn money from your free blog.

I guess that Google is not just playing nice because after all they earn from AdSense like you do.

I order to make the process as easy as it could be, Google  implemented a build in adsense manager in blogger control panel, with drag and drop support.

Lets start and see how can we add  AdSense ads in our own blogger account:

Step 1:

Sign in to your blogger account at blogger.com.

You have to have a Google Account,  if you don’t you can open one by following  link at the the bottom of the page.

Blogger-Sign-in

Step 2

After signing in, you we forwarded straight to the Blogger dashboard, where blogger will list all your existing blogs.

Press the layout link next to blog that you want to add AdSense to.

Step 3

Blogger will take you to page elements page where you can see all the different elements in your blog.

In order to add a new element, choose the part where you want you element to appear and click "Add a Page Element".

Blogger-PageElements

Step 4

This will open a new window with the list of elements to choose from.

Choose AdSense and press "ADD TO BLOG".

Step 5

If this the first you are trying to add AdSense you will get the following screen, requesting you to fill you adsense email the one that you sign in  with to your adsense account.

In order to make sure that you are the owners of that account you should provide your postal code or the phone number that appears in you AdSense account settings.

Blogger-AdSense_Account

Because Blogger must have a permission to manage you adsense account from his own control panel you need to go to your AdSense account and approve Blogger.

To do this go to you AdSense account, under My Account  Tab > Account Access you will get a list of the hosts that the right to manage your account. This list probably will have blogger waiting for you approval, approve it.

This step is very important in order to manage your adsense account from blogger control panel.

If you already used AdSense with blogger or after you filled the last screen you get the this one, the one where all the magic is done.

Blogger-ConfigureAdSense

You can that screen have two main parts, in the first you need to choose the ad unit format.

The list will show all the different type available.

After that you need to choose the colors for your AdSense units.

I personally leave the blend template this way the ads will look as a part of the site. At the bottom you have a live preview.

When you done click "Save Changes" to go back to the page elements screen.

Step 6

Blogger-PageElements_With_AdSense

You can that an AdSense unit was added to the footer of you blog.

Page elements control panel support drag-n-drop interface, so you drag you adsense unit any other place in you page.

That it you done it, your blogger now have AdSense units.

Tips and tricks

Because Blogger has a very smart control panel, it will sometimes will restrict the kind of ad format the you can choose from the list according to where you want to chose to put it.

In order to bypass that restriction, always add your unit in the footer, there the list of the ads format is full. After that just drag it you desired place.

Conclusion

Adding AdSense to Blogger blog is very easy and it’s almost straight forward.

If you have any trouble using this feature I will be happy to help just respond to this post with any question that you have.
